BBC News Report on Ghana’s performance at the Commonwealth Games 2010

The Games are overseen by the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF),Indians hosted the games because they had never hosted the games and also voters were to complaints that wealthy countries are picked too often this made New  Delhi capital of India win forty –six votes to the votes  kick out Hamilton Australia which had 22.

Badminton, table tennis and weightlifting are among the disciplines Ghana is participating in Ignatius Graisah, Nana Kofi Sam, Emmanuel Appiah Kubi,Nathan KPEGAH, Laryea Akrong Allah, Heptathlete Margaret Simpson, Elizabeth Amelefo, Beatrice Gyam, Janet Amponsah, Anifa Sefakor, Linda Benin and Rosina Amenebede are athletes  competing for Ghana.

Australia lead the medal table with 165 points followed by England with 135 points. So far with the African countries, South Africa tops African  countries.

Ghana  won a bronze medal in the parasports womens 1500meters followed by mens long jump, by Ignisious Gaisah and also another award by Awusono Yekeni. He won the heavy weight event which means Ghana has won one silver and three medals. Ghana sports  analyst Karl Tuffour said the focus for Ghana at this competition should be in gaining experience.

He said even if Ghana does not win any medal their experience they have put together in this competition can prove invaluable at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. So far India been the host nation is the third country with 94 medals. We hope that Ghana’s performance at this commonwealth games will be better as compared to previous one.
