British Council Executives from Accra, the Regional Director of Education (Mr. J.K Onyina), the British Council Director of Sub-Saharan Africa (Mr. Alan Curry) and others came to witness the event.
The programme began with some poems about our culture, abstinence from drugs and the like. It was then followed by a sketch about keeping clean. Some pupils and students shared and demonstrated their experiences with their colleagues on global school partnership.
Not only did the students perform sketches and poems but also cultural dances like Adowa (a famous Asante dance), Flaglo (a Northern dance), Kpanlogo( a Ga dance) and many more to showcase the rich culture of Ghanaians and Africa.
Some schools also expressed the need for Ghanaian schools to also adopt the Good practices by their partner schools in Uk for a better education practice.
Mr. J.K Onyina the Regional Director of Education addressing the students and teachers in his speech appealed to the G. E .S to support the programme and that the interaction between different schools was good. He thanked the BBC and British Council for a wonderful programme.
Mr. Alan Curry, the British Council Director of Sub-Saharan Africa in an interaction with the Headlines News team said that it was an excellent idea to have all schools come together like this and also encouraged schools to keep on doing this. The students from Headlines also had the opportunity to showcase some of the British Council supported activities to other schools. They also talked about the benefit the schools have received since their involvement in Connecting Classroom and BBC News School Report. It was a good practice event.
